Derbyshire Crimebeat is an exciting scheme launched in 1992. Its aim is to give young people aged between 5 and 25 years old an opportunity to help combat crime. Young people are asked to come up with ideas and initiatives which will have a community safety element within a project. Crimebeat will provide the funds to help put those ideas into practice. There are no real restrictions to projects: your ideas can either be simple and down to earth or pioneering and adventurous. A few examples of successful Crimebeat projects can be found on the 'projects' pages of this website. Derbyshire Crimebeat has six main objectives, and if it is to be successful, your project will probably need to fulfil at least one of these.
Derbyshire Crimebeat encourages groups of young people to work with friends to set up either on their own initiative or by drawing on the advice and support which can be received through either school, college, community group or youth organisation. Generally, people find it quite easy to think of an initial project idea. When you have done this, you will need to give further thought of how you intend to refine your ideas and turn them into an effective low-cost project. This is part of the challenge of Derbyshire Crimebeat. When you have devised your project, you should fill in the application form which can be downloaded from this web site. Your application will then be considered by a special selection panel headed by the High Sheriff of Derbyshire. If your project is accepted, you could receive up to £750 to run it. There is no closing date for applications, but funds are limited so the sooner you apply the better. All projects supported by Crimebeat can submit an entry for the Achievement awards which are considered and selected each January. Please take time to browse this web site, read the newsletters and look at previous project details. Registered Charity No.1086603 |
